Some cats do not want a flat bed in the middle of the room. They want to be inside something, out of the draught and out of sight, which is why you keep finding them in the laundry basket.
Why they take to it
This is a fully enclosed bed, closer to a sleeping bag than a basket. The opening is wide and holds its shape, so they can walk straight in rather than fighting their way under a flap, and once they are in, the sides close around them.
Cats are den animals. A covered space with one entrance is what they look for when they want to properly switch off, rather than the light doze they do on the sofa.
Warm without a plug
There is nothing electric in it. The fleece outer and the soft fibre filling simply hold on to the heat your cat is already making, and because the bed is enclosed, that heat stays in rather than drifting off into a cold room. Useful for older cats, thin coated breeds and anyone whose heating goes off overnight.
Sizing
An average adult cat weighs 4 to 5kg, so M is the size most people need. S is a kitten size.

| M |

Cats up to 8 kg |
If your cat is between the two, go up. They stretch out more than you expect, and a bed that is slightly too big still works, while one that is too small just gets ignored.
Very small dogs fit the M as well, up to about a chihuahua, a Yorkie or a toy poodle. A dachshund is too long for it and a pug is too broad.
Looking after it
Wash it on a cool, gentle cycle and dry it flat, away from a radiator. Give the filling a shake out once it is dry to stop it settling into one end. Skip the fabric softener, which flattens fleece over time.
